Basketball Tournament 🏀 🏆

Hello, and I’m going to tell you a little about my basketball experience last weekend. I play for a team named the Carolina Flames and we are a AAU team. The Carolina Flames had a basketball tournament in Greensboro this weekend. We won 3 games in a row and brought home 1st place. The highlight of the tournament was the final game, where I managed to make the winning basket, thanks to a perfect pass from my friend. This experience taught us that while we play hard we always have to be grateful for our team and the people we played.

Keep Durham Beautiful 🌳🌏

Our grade went tree planting and picked up trash for the Durham community. Hillside Park was originally a high school that became the first in Durham to teach black students. We split into groups of three.  In this picture, some of my friends and I were sitting around a hole for the tree. Some steps you can use to plant trees are first dig a hole to accommodate the tree. Next, take the tree out of the bucket it was in and gently shake it, making the roots break. That helps the tree because if we let it grow in circles, it would die. Finally, after you did those two steps, take mulch and make a donut around the tree.

 

Puzzle Time 🧩

My family and I did a puzzle together. It took us three days. Although it was frustrating, the end result was very pretty. I would say I do not like puzzles that much, but doing them with my family was fun. These are some tips I would use if you were trying to do a puzzle. First tip is to do the border first. Next, I would split your work into sections, meaning one side first, then work on the other. Finally, I would say don’t do the puzzle in one day. The puzzle can get frustrating and make you mad. Some puzzles are hard and it’s better to space things out.

Snow Day ❄️☃️

It snowed in North Carolina!

This photo is from a few days after the snow fell, and the snow reached 0.7 to 1.5 inches. Even though there was not a lot of snow, sledding was really fun. The snow was more ice than snow, but that just made sledding even faster. I love the snow!

I went to Egypt for winter break, and I had one of the best times. Egypt was very different from America. They had markets and a ton of cars. Speaking of the cars, I saw brands that we did not have in America. Something that I thought was very cool was seeing King Tut Ankh Amun ( King Tut), seeing the pyramids, and going inside them.

Blue Viper 🐍🩵

During Language Arts, we were told to do a research project about a snake. I chose the Blue Viper because of its unique, vibrant color. Here is a little about the Blue Viper. The blue viper is a stunning snake found in the forests of Indonesia. While most vipers in its family are green, this specific kind is famous for its rare and vibrant blue scales. It is a predator that uses its long fangs to inject venom into small animals like birds and lizards. These snakes spend most of their time living in the trees.

 

Book Review

In To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, 16-year-old Lara Jean writes secret love letters to all the boys she’s ever liked. But one day, the letters get mailed out! Her whole life turns upside down as five boys suddenly know how she felt about them.

The main character, Lara Jean Song Covey, starts the book wishing her life were normal. When her love letters go out, she ends up in a fake relationship with one of the boys, Peter Kavinsky, to fix things. To find out what happens next, read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Why I would recommend this book:

I would recommend To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before to anyone who loves romance and stories about finding your voice. It shows that sometimes your biggest mistakes can lead to your best adventures.

Favorite Part:

My favorite part of this book is when she starts fake-dating Peter. This is my favorite part because when they start dating, Peter’s ex Genevieve gets mad and does pranks and bullies Lara Jean.

Rating:

I rate it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️-  5 Stars because it shows a true life lesson.
